The development of high-powered blue and UV LEDs has enabled the creation of full-color LED TV displays, as well as white LED automotive and domestic lighting. These LEDs are based on Gallium Nitride, which is deposited on substrate wafers supported by CVD SiC-coated graphite susceptor using the MOCVD process.

The term “dry etching” broadly refers to any non-wet etching technology used for removing surface materials and transferring micro and nano patterns, including laser etching, plasma etching, and chemical vapor etching. The dry etching discussed in this text specifically pertains to the narrow application of processes using plasma discharge—either physical or chemical—to modify material surfaces.

Silicon carbide (SiC) power devices are semiconductor devices made of silicon carbide materials, mainly used in high-frequency, high-temperature, high-voltage and high-power electronic applications.
