Unlike production wafers, Dummy Wafers are not intended for sale as finished products and are typically not used in actual production. Their main purpose is to meet specific equipment operational requirements, enhance process stability, optimize resource use, and mitigate production risks. 1. Filling Equipment Capacity: Certain manufacturing equipment, such as furnace tubes and etchers, necessitates a minimum number of wafers during operation to maintain stable airflow, temperature fields, and chemical reaction environments. If fewer production wafers are placed in the equipment, performance stability can be compromised, negatively impacting process quality. Dummy Wafers are employed to supplement the number of wafers, ensuring equipment operates at optimal load, similar to how a fully loaded oven provides even heating.
